Bereavement Counsellor in Caversham and South Oxfordshire

Grief can feel very isolating — especially when those around you don’t quite understand what you’re going through. If you are in Caversham, Goring, Woodcote or anywhere across South Oxfordshire, I offer specialist bereavement counselling to help you find your way through loss.
My name is Sally Hunt. I am based in Pangbourne, just across the Thames from Caversham, and bereavement is the only thing I work with. Every client I see has come to me because of loss — and that singular focus shapes everything about the way I work.
Serving Caversham and the villages of South Oxfordshire
Caversham sits just north of Reading on the Oxfordshire side of the Thames, and the villages of South Oxfordshire — Goring, Woodcote, Checkendon, Sonning Common and the surrounding area — are all within easy reach of my Pangbourne practice. For those who prefer not to travel, I offer sessions by Zoom, which many clients find works just as well.

What brings people to bereavement counselling
People come to me at all stages of grief — sometimes weeks after a loss, sometimes years later when something has brought the grief back to the surface. There is no right or wrong time to seek support.
I work with people who have lost a partner, a parent, a child, a sibling or a close friend. I also work with people navigating anticipatory grief — grieving someone who is still alive but seriously ill — and with those who have experienced a loss that others don’t always take seriously, such as the death of a pet or a pregnancy loss.

Specialist, unhurried support
I am BACP accredited and hold a specialist qualification in bereavement counselling. Sessions are gentle, unhurried and entirely focused on you. There is no fixed programme or set number of sessions — we work at a pace that feels right.
